You are correct but Boris has zero chance I believe.

The Conservative MPs are a majority in favour of remain. The will do everything in their power to keep Boris off the ballot and they get to choose the 2 on the ballot. If he gets to the final 2 then I agree the Conservative members will make him MP.
More likely they wil get behind a compromise candidate like Dominic Raab.
