it's also not acceptable for a sovereign nation

to unilaterally tell it's neighbour that:

"Sorry matey, the deal's off, you have 24 hours until mass smuggling commences and tonnes of contraband/non-compliant goods flood over the border and untraceably enter the single market. Stick up border posts if you want, we are not fussed"

You either need a jointly agreed exit process, or a long unilateral notice period (2 years maybe?) It's why we had Art 50 in the first place.
