what we already knew - which is that he clearly has a lot of ability in there somewhere as we have seen it before, we are not sure of how he will be now, but if het can get back to where he was (is still only 30) then we know his style fits into what we are look for, and he certainly has a point to prove.

He is on a free transfer. Even if he replaces McGovern in the pecking order then it is worthwhile signing him on a free.

Remember Peter Cech's form at the end at Chelsea? Dogged by injuries, form dropped. Looked totally washed out. Move to Arsenal completely rejuvenated him.
