I understand the argument about supporting smaller clubs – but football is so weird

In what other sport where a match ends in a draw or tie do you simply play the entire fixture again on a different date? It is old-fashioned, weird and only tolerated simply because we are used to it and know no better. Replays are an absolute pain in the arse and clutter schedules.

I don’t really know what solution would work better but perhaps – as a concession to the minnows - any club drawn at home to a team at least two divisions higher is then given automatically given the option to play the game away.
