I think the problem is more the way they display the headline imagery
It seems that if there is more than about 15% chance of rain somewhere at any point in the day they now sho rain on the main image on their app for the day for that area which is what most people look at rather than drilling down into the detail. As you say the detailed info is often more accurate if you search for it but most people don’t.
