I've heard of them but not used them. I've tried quite a few things over the last couple o
f years and found that the brand that works best for me is SiS.
I use their gels, energy bars (Go energy), powders (post-ride protein) and they're the ones I feel the benefit from the most. They taste okay, easy on the stomach and if you sign up to their newsletter they send offers all the time.
I steer clear of caffeinated gels/powders after an unfortunate pebbledash incident mid-Audax (I got to a loo in time). High 5 was the brand. Their non-caffeine stuff might be ok but I daren't take the risk. I do have a coffee mid-ride though for a caffeine fix.
Apart from SiS stuff I take the standard cycling fare of nanas, malt loaf, fig rolls and jelly babies/Haribo and as long as I eat little and often (every hour) before I get hungry then I can keep going all day. Aldi's Hike bars are good too as are their Raw and Paleo bars.
