guess the point is that even if fit, there's been no obvious reason why Thompson would have been expected to be a mainstay of the first XI. So if he has missed that many games thru injury (I don't quite understand how you get your numbers, given he's only had 1 2/3 seasons with us?), then it doesn't feel like that big a deal anyway.

Wheres Jarvis has presumably been one of our most highly paid players for 2 2/3 seasons now. Therefore feels like a much bigger blow that he's played fewer than 20 games. And I think there's also a suspicion that the club should have paid attention to his injury record before we signed him.

Agree it's a bit harsh to mock him personally - I don't suppose he'd choose to be injured - although of course we have turned into quite a nice glide-into-retirement pension scheme for him. Whereas Thompson may not have a hugely lucrative career at all.
