the trouble is that a large proportion of the cash floods in from TV around the globe
and most people outside the UK don't have to pay for a special package to get prem football, you can generally get it on normal cable.
Most of those viewers are idle observers who don't particularly care about the individual result or about who wins the league, but want to see a few goals and a player or two from their region to give them some local interest.
