how does knowing all of that make you a better citizen?

I can name and place all of the 54 countries of Africa in less than 3 minutes. It doesn't make me a better African, it just means I can remember some s**t. It's what you do as a citizen, not stuff you can remember that was shoved down your throat at school. I think anyway. Maybe.
