I know he was well appreciated at Norwich but I don't believe the majority knew how good he was. Certainly outside of Norfolk no one gave him a second glance but I still contend that he was the best player never to be capped by England... a travesty!

Chippy had tenacious tackling, a mean streak (he gave out a few right-handlers), but the vision and crisp accurate passing every bit as good as a Hoddle... he learned from both Hoddle and Ardiles at Spurs.

The beating heart and creative spark of the City midfield for a decade from '86 and the best £80,000 we've ever spent.
