Or at least, that is how many supporters perceived him.
I said at the start of last season that Dorrans was a better player in central midfield and very little, beyond his occasional fabulous goal, changed my mind on that.
He simply does not influence games enough and never sets the tempo. He does ok when others are playing well alongside him... but he never lifted the team.
I always liked him and really wanted him to be the player we thought he was. But I just don't think he was ever that player. A bit of a throwback midfielder if anything.
