I think we started out playing the possession game but it wasn't really working too well,
First half we played it across the back quite a lot, just keeping the ball and trying to draw Birmingham in, hoping to create space through their midfield. Unfortunately they held tight and didn't take the bait. Hence why the first half was fairly tight with neither team particularly making inroads.
Second half we came out quicker, trying to pass through at pace, knowing that Brum had to get forward to try and level the game. We were a lot more direct as we had to be to try and break them down. In doing that we left ourselves a little more exposed, as did they when they knew they had to get forward. Hence more chances for both sides.
We certainly looked better going a little more direct at times and just mixing it up a bit. The first half we were far too predictable, trying the same tactic over and over. That second half sparked a lot more neat interchanges with Murph, Maddo and Trybull with Nelson doing some good legwork up top.
This was the first game for me where we really looked like the possession and neat passing could really open teams up, up at the same time not afraid to mix it up and go more direct if the chance came.
