C'mon folks, nobody thought this was gonna be easy, did they?

We're trying to revolutionise our entire style of play - in many ways, our entire club - with a manager who is totally new to the English game and to top team management itself; with a good number of players who've also never played in England before, and with some very very mediocre guys still kicking about in the squad.

If we're never going to have rich owners, transforming our identity as a team is the only way we can ever succeed. But it doesn't happen overnight. A tough first half of the season as the new arrivals and Farke himself bed in was always likely... and the danger is that we as a fanbase panic and lose faith in what is, overall, a very ambitious long term project.

Yes, it could go wrong. I actually agree with a heck of a lot of what MIKEWALKER and meca have been saying about the squad. We could easily end up struggling; losing our parachute payments will hardly be anything good either. But reading between the lines, I think the club's prepared for it. No-one in their right minds ever expected promotion this season. All that can be asked for come May is some sense of progress and things gradually coming together.
