Just back from the game . . .
Observations, for what they're worth.
1. After 2 games we have shown that we can pass the ball now, unlike last season when 3 passes were as much as we could expect.
2. Reed is a gem. Need to look after him.
3. Maddison has come on hugely under Farke.
4. Beginning to feel that we need not rely so much on Wes any more.
5. We did lack quality in the final third. It was slow possession which allowed Sunderland to get 10 men behind the ball.
6. Despite being a big old unit, Zimmerman cannot head a ball to save his life. With Russ just as bad, it needs to be fixed and quick (Ryan Bennett will be wondering what he did wrong). Other teams will have seen this.
7. Still can't see what Watkins brings to the party. Thought he might have seen subbed for Wes or Oli.
8. New it was a mistake going to Norwich for the day. On the 2 and half hour car drive home Mrs canary_wharf kept on about moving back to Norwich.
Overall, thought it was a good performance, but need to sort out the defence. How long have we been saying that!
Incidentally, a lot of the fans around me wanted us to go long, just like Sunderland!! Farke has a huge job on his hands to convert a lot of our fans to his possession-based football.
