I've had an electric car 3 years....

Driven over 30000 miles and none of the problems you highlight. I do have a charger at home but mostly charge it out and about for free. 26 mile commute to work means I need to charge it once during the week and then at the weekend. They lend me a petrol car up to 3 weeks a year for longer trips if needed. Travel to many away games, park for free at a local charger to the ground, watch the match then drive home I can even text it to warm up in winter as I leave the ground. Basically I run the car for nothing - you may well win the Lands End to John O'Groats race but seriously for me the prod outweigh the cons.
