You get no idea of context or how he actually said it.

What he said was its very different to previous approaches he's experienced. he could have meant that positively or it could have been a "what the hell is this guy doing" type quote. Impossible to tell really.

I get the sense that the players have been doing "ball work" much earlier in pe-season than previously. i'm sure in the past the first week or two has practically all been running and fitness but based on the clubs videos and photos they've been playing five asides and working with the ball at their feet from day one this pre-season.
