If he helps get us promoted then yes it is and indeed his value probably increases.

But you are making a big assumption about his diminishing value. He may score 25 goals from midfield and largely retain his value even if we stay up. We could of course always sell in Jan when we have a better idea how the season is panning out.

My point was really about the combination of selling relatively cheap and to a rival. I'd be p***ed off if we sold him to a prem team for £5m but less so than if we sell to Leeds or Boro for that price.
