As he's never done anything at this level before.
Let's just see how it goes before pissing up his back, or slagging him off.
And I don't believe it's right too give him too much time either, didn't work last year won't work this, he's either good enough or isn't.
If he's not,move on him on, if he is keep him. Not just keep him on hoping it'll come good.
