I believe there were at least parts manufactured on reepham road by what became

Blude Barton furniture. When I worked there in the mid nineties (just before bankruptcy - a coincidence I promise) they still had some operational lathes from the war era. And a cleaner. Mad old Charlie had been there forever. He didn't realise that his wife had a wooden hand until they'd been married six weeks. He was a bit special and smelled of gravy.

I was told by the company that they made aircraft parts and that after the war, with no more business, the ministry of defence had taken them on as furniture contractors.

That's what they still did when I worked there. Producing furniture for the military and also for education.

There was a gret ol crater in the car park which I was told was from a war time bomb but has never been properly filled in. Could have all been bollocks natch.
