Question for the teckie pens on here.
Yesterday we flew back from Geneva airport. As soon as we got back home and connected to wifi, Jools got a marketing email from Victoria's Secret, a store she has never had any dealings with. We recall walking past one at the airport as I mentioned.
Now, I know that sores track your movements through a phone's MAC address and can target you with stuff, but I always assumed you had to have had some sort of interaction with that sore for that to happen.
So my question is, htf did they obtain Jool's email address (and it is the one she never, ever gives out to stores), just by the wifi interaction as we walked past.
And yes, I have GIYLF, and found loads of slightly worrying stuff about lack of privacy and location tracking, but nothing that answers my question
