Global financial crisis
Labour were unlucky to be in power when the Global financial crisis happened.
It would have been worse if the Tories had been in power because the Tories had wanted less regulation of the banks.
As for the Tories, they always run the NHS, state education etc. into the ground and then Labour have to spend to bring them up to standard and reduce waiting lists etc.
