Hindsight is a wonderful thing
But I do remember the shiver that went down my spine when one of our first (the first?) signing of the season was to give Whittaker a contract extension. After all the defensive horrors that were were the main cause of our relegation. We've needed good defenders for longer than any of us want to remember and that signing set the scene.
