Weird article all round really. If he has a release clause then how can they play

hard ball with us. And if we are prepared to activate it why haven't we.

Only way they can play hard ball is if we are trying to get him without activating the release clause or if he's tried to quit and they are going to make him serve out his notice. I assume by activating his release clause it means him agreeing to buy out his own notice period as he's not a player or a manager so would seem strange if there was a "transfer fee" involved.
