Honestly, you muppet, what do you expect them to say?! "Yes we're trying to sign this bloke but it's a bit sticky"? "We wouldn't mind him but we're waiting to hear back from Roy"? No reason to say anything and every reason to say nothing.

The issue isn't the comms, it's about deciding to sack Neill without having the faintest shred of a plan other than "we'll look for someone else"
