Are you in a position where you hire people in real life?

If so, you must recognise that what you have written is largely tosh?

You can't sift through a 'deluge' of applicants in mere days. The more critical the job, the more thorough (and long) the process needs to be.

It seems to me that what you and many are asking the board to be is for them to be incompetent? The sane thing you are accusing them of?

(There is an argument to be made that this process could and should have been started months ago, but that is a different argument to saying they should have everything already in place only days after sacking the incumbent)
