Taking your post at face value, this is now completely his squad.

He either signed the shirking players or chose to keep them.

The few battlers we did have, he let go and replaced them with physically and mentally weaker individuals.

He has not been able to motivate them to work for him or carry out his tactics away from home or against the better teams all season.

Just to be clear, this is entirely his fault.
