I think you underestimate Corbyn's popularity

Amongst those who decide who leads Labour.

Even if he goes now, Labour need more than 2 years to rebuild. There are no alternative leaders with the clout to win a GE against May. And that is saying something.

The leader after the next one is who will return Labour to power, and the good labour leader candidates will know it.

It's May until 2025, possibly longer if Brexit isn't an utter disaster.
