This is the trade off isn't it?

We can't afford to buy players of the same quality as loan ones (we can afford higher earning loan players than permanent buys, because we aren't committing to those high wages beyond the end of the parachute payments).
So are we prepared to accept lower quality additions on the basis that they are at least ours and are a club asset going forward. I think we should, but that is the choice and we should recognise it as such.
Don't want to find people professing to favour buys over loans and then complaining that the buys aren't as prestigious as they were expecting - purchases will have to be lower-earners.
