Its standard that you get a paid notice period yes but 2 years seems
very generous.
Football seems to basically operate like a cartel in terms of what contracts managers and players will accept. I just can't believe someone wouldn't have the nous to have clauses in the contract that at least reduce the payoff in circumstances such as this where a manager is patently failing. Surely you could have a clause whereby if they are sacked for no apparent reason they get the full amount due but if for example they are outside the top 10 at any point more than 4 months into the season they can be sacked with reduced compo.
The most staggering thing about this remains that Nail seems to have forced the board into giving him a better termination package by hinting he might leave in the summer.
