What makes a good manager?

I was talking about this to my brother in law (Southampton fan) over lunch and I came up with these (I think they are in order of importance):

1. Ability to change matches with substitutions and/or tactical changes - Lambert was amazing at this

2. Late goals scored and not conceded

3. Good style of play, fast passing football - like the second goal in the playoff final

4. Scoring regularly from set pieces (not sure we've ever been good at that) and not conceding lots

I think on all four measures (bar 3 in a couple of instances this season) Neil is failing.

Any I've missed? Am I being too harsh.
