I would agree with that as well. His confidence went but

I think it was also the beginning of the time the players began to also question his tactical competence. Ok I accept they probably did not all at that precise moment think "this bloke does not know what he's doing" but possibly the seed was planted and has grown ever since as we've never really settled back down again and players have been in and out of the side/squad too much ever since.
