We went from Lima down the coast to Arequipa

And then over to Cusco. So Nazca was a stop off on the way. It was a decade ago now but I do remember finding the place fairly dead apart from loads of people trying to sell unofficial tours to the surrounding ruins.

We didn't go to Ayacucho I'm afraid so can't tell you what its like, but it looks more substantial than Nazca.
