Splendid assessment, Dan. The odd thing about the Newcastle game...

was that we were the better side in the early stages of the second half, 3-2 down and pressing for an equaliser. It was all fine.

Then AN went bananas, took Tettey off and we fell apart.

But that defeat occurred not because his attacking instincts were flawed but because he just went for a blitz that wasn't needed. He simply didn't read the game properly and we were left playing some kind of weird 4-1-5 formation.

He didn't need to subsequently review his default approach, he just needed to realise that the kitchen sink isn't required when you already have the upper hand.
