My role of disappointment
1981 - alive but not really aware of football/Norwich City yet
1985 - supporting Norwich but too young to fully appreciate the travesty that unfolded. The following season was really when I started to go to games on a reasonably regular basis. Had I been older I would obviously have been f**king livid.
1995 - at Leeds handing out Chase Out flyers outside the turnstiles pre-match and absolutely gutted after the match at what was really (at the time) the lowest point of my match attending supporting life after a decade of mainly really great football. As I recall there was a moment during the game where we equalized and there was a small chance of survival but I may have made that up. That relegation was very similar to this one in that we beat the sc*m at home a couple of months before the end of the season to mass relief (see Newcastle home 2016) and at that point it looked like we would be ok but then I don't think we won another game.
2005 - I was at Fulham - got wasted afterwards and embroiled in a minor kerfuffle with some gloating Fulham fans outside the pub near the tube station. They ran off when confronted by some bigger, scarier blokes than me. one Norwich fan got absolutely tw**ted by a fellow Norwich fan who then picked him up, dusted him down and apologised profusely for the misunderstanding and bought him a drink.
2009 - at Charlton. Angry. Very angry, especially at the large number of our fans who decided our relegation was worthy of a party in the stands. Got the train back to London Bridge with Alan Gow who was not hugely complimentary about Gunny's management skills.
2014 - Weird non-event of a relegation that one due to the circumstances. sat through the Arsenal game like everyone else did. Wasn't as bad as I expected it to be.
2016 - Decided after the weekend that I couldn't face travelling up for tonight's game. if it happens I will be listening on the radio but I am reconciled to it already so will just switch off and go to bed.
