Kevan James (ex Hants) was arguing for 5 day championship games

in a 3 division structure, his thinking being that at least that way you will get a result in April and September matches.

I thought about going after work for the evening session today, but it was already clear that it is heading for a draw with 55 overs lost on Monday.

The Hampshire archivist who co-commentates with James on Radio Solent, was arguing for a sub to be available for the second half of each game; he thinks a spinner would be most likely and it would help to bring them on.

Nasty moment at the match on Sunday when Adam Voges was hit on the head by a ball deflected from the keeper and has suspected concussion. The only time I can remember anything similar in 50 years of cricket was in a UEA Second XI match I was in against a village somewhere in Norfolk (no idea where) in the mid-70s, when a batsman turned his back on the throw from the boundary and didn't react to the cries of "heads". He had to be taken to hospital.
