that is a fairly meaningless statistic though

those managers were sacked when their clubs were doing so badly compared to their talent level that they would most likely (pretty much certainly in the case of Sunderland and Villa) have got more points per game from that date onwards even if they had kept the same manager. So cause and effect doesn't really apply. Their PPG got better because the only way was up. The exception to this is Chelsea, because I'm pretty sure their players were at least to a degree playing badly (or at least putting in considerably less than 100%) on purpose.
