one rather unfortunate thing...

is that we have had too few games where both our attack and defence have put in decent performances. It seems like always one or the other does. So we are generally competitive but not quite enough to win.
If the good defensive performances had matched days when the attack was on song we'd probably have 4 or 5 more wins (without any more actual good performances from either attack or defence), even if this meant their respective bad days also coincided and we therefore got absolutely hammered more often.
