too much money = too much change?
everyone knows Prem teams get loads of money and see others spending it so under a lot of pressure (fans/media)to do the same. Often seems to result in loads of new players with little/no thought given to how they will fit together (see us buying Ricky when Hughton's tactics clearly required a big lump as he'd had in Carroll at Newcastle and Zigic at Brum).
Newcastle for instance just seem a random collection of players cobbled together. Maybe our relative fluency is due to our continuity?
