It's rudiculous

Putting aside the fact that the "entertainment" on show will be, for the most part, utterly dreary, I'm not sure how they can justify those ticket prices - other than the fact that international rugby union, in England at least, is the chosen day out for bankers, stockbrokers and other corporate jolly types who all went to the "right schools".

There are plenty of people on lower incomes who play and enjoy watching rugby union - the West Country and Wales are full of them - but these people stand next to no chance of getting tickets to major RU events.

Personally it doesn't bother me as I dislike the sport and those who run it with a passion, but it irritates me that the media in this country treat it like a massive "game of the people" sport that everyone supposedly gives a s**t about. There are huge swathes of England where people don't care - most of the North for starters - but it's rammed down our throats by the press. Then again, the media is full of people who went to "the right schools and universities", so I shouldn't be surprised. It's the most "establishment" of all sports.

The next God knows how many weeks are going to be hell, as the media masturbstes itself silly over those fine chaps like Sir Jonny of Wilkinson that never put a foot wrong and are a wonderful example to everyone etc etc etc
