I actually think there was ambition, indeed some of our reported targets were arguably overambitious and it appears were pursued for much of the summer to the detriment of more realistic options who we then were unable to sign at the last minute.

I am not saying any of them would necessarily have been the answer but i'm pretty convinced that had we bid for Dwight Gayle, Nedum Onuah, the Danish defender bloke, Antonio or Afobe in mid July rather than in the last week/24 hours of the transfer windwo then we would have signed several of them.
