Wolf and Fer were both signed in unusual circumstances though
that favoured us a lot. Wolf was basically pushed out of the door by Sporting who needed money urgently and so were desperate to force through a quick deal. Fer had failed a medical at Everton and no other Premier League clubs seemed interested in him, so his options were relatively limited. Neither were really highly sought-after.
When we have tried to sign good overseas players that have had a choice of clubs to go to, or where their current club has not been actively looking to sell them, we have consistently failed to attract them.
