They couldn't get any decent overseas signings, just a few hopeful punts like we did. Most of their big signings were already based in the UK, just like ours.
Sunderland is a different case. They are a bigger club and have been pretty much established in the Prem for a long time. They also tend to have well known managers with a lot of contacts and can pay much, much higher wages than us.
