What he didn't realise is that the middle aged men standing behind his goal did not start singing their club song for the next 20 minutes but "Your keeper is a homo" in the local dialect.

I mean, he could be and that would be fine, and it was a rather purile attempt at humour, but the fact that he kept turning around and winking at them, and they responded by waving and smiling whilst still singing "Your keeper is a homo" was rather amusing.
