Although they don't do checks there either to be fair.
I think the only baggage check I've ever done on a train was Eurostar to the UK. And that was half hearted. Been on Thalys to Paris many times, Italian Eurostar between Rome and Florence and ICE all over the place in Germany and never had any checks on those.
