The land is usually retained by the LA and then leased to the academy trust.
What makes this more interesting (and fishy) is that the school is already a trust school so owns the land which will pass to Inspiration Trust. They will then move all their schools onto the one site, selling their properties in prime central city sites. Strange they've only shown an interest in the Hewett...
