I've long wondered this. When a Local Authority (therefore tax payer owned) school is

taken over by an academy, what happens to the ownership of the physical assets - land, buildings, etc? Do we still own it? Or is it just given away to private ownership? Presumably there would be covenants about the future use of those assets, if it was just given away? Like "you may not sell 95% of the sports fields to Tesco and trouser the proceeds into a Monaco bank account."
