Last stage not the best to judge a whole event lasting weeks.
The last stage is traditionally processional with only the sprinters contesting the last few metres. The tour itself is one of the great tactical and physical challenges there around. I did a leg of the tour of Britain a few years ago. 135 miles. Ipswich to Norwich via Southwold, Yarmouth and Dereham. I've run marathons before, but that was torture. The thought of doing that for weeks on end...
