Magic ingredients

Laughing stock player (unfairly identified thus)
Chance of redemption = massive motivation, point to prove
Low fan/media expectations = less pressure
Player actually has good technical ability. Not saying he's a galactico, but he's got Lineker type qualities, attacks space, will get plenty of shots on target from 6 yards out.
Manager recognises RvW's limitations. He is not Grant Holt, doesn't try to play him as lone battering ram striker. Probably best used as an impact sub as part of NCFC game plan B.
Manager gets team to play to RvW's strengths, instead of not passing to him + instead cutting inside and shooting hopefully from miles out
Manager gets RvW to adapt his game - he can produce many assists as well as scoring himself. The assist at Cambridge was pretty good.
LG and CJ now both much better foils than Elmander ever was.
Confidence returns. The Wolf finds his teeth!
The magic can happen.
The sage is set.
