you can be found fit for work. For instance if have a non-agressive cancer and have chemo booked in the queue in 3 months time, you won't be able to claim ESA for that period as technically you can work. You have to claim JSA for that time unless things either your condition worsens, or there is evidence of another illness. You then can try to claim ESA again, once the Chemo has begun under a new claim.
