Take a look at

the players from the premier league who are in the copa america and see how many are clustered in manchester - coincidence? perhaps, because of the big clubs there ad their money, but also there are 5 argentinians there, I believe across the two clubs. That means there is already a community there, not just for the players, but for their gf/wife and families, which is probably more important in terms of settling in/down.

Benitez was desperate to get another job in the Premier League after Liverpool because his kids were so settled in schools here. De Gea wants to go back to Spain because his gf won't come and live in Manchester. It makes a big difference. He flies out there once a fortnight to see her I think.

If you were Man Utd and wanted to sign another Argentinian, it would be a relatively easier sell if the infrastructure and community is already there.

Tim Vickery did an interesting discussion about this on world football phone in, and Brazilians going to somewhere obscure in Europe a while back. They had a similar set-up and once they had a few going there, aside from the wages on offer, it was the community there that made it easier for the others to follow.

Some players, an example I could cite would be Nakata from Japan who speaks multiple languages and was able to travel to places like Italy and England, can fit in more easily without as much effort, but they are likely to be rarer.
